What you’ll do:

As a Mechatronics Technologist at Voyis you will have a wide scope of work with exposure to electrical, mechanical, optical, and software elements of our products. The primary role is focused on manufacturing and testing of our underwater laser-scanners, lighting, and camera systems. Specific job duties are listed below. You will also support continuous improvement initiatives with your knowledge and experience to help improve manufacturing processes with regards to quality and efficiency.

The role often includes working closely with engineering on new product developments and requires attention to detail and testing rigor for excellent results. You’ll have the chance to provide feedback on design aspects and manufacturability.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assemble & test of electrical, mechanical and optical systems including, but not limited to wiring, crimping & soldering, connector assembly, camera focusing & calibration
  • Perform optical calibration procedures on cameras and laser systems
  • Inspect & test incoming components according to QC instructions
  • Complete system performance testing on laser-scanners, lighting systems, and cameras
  • Follow procedures for software & firmware setup on our systems
  • Preparing equipment for shipping & receiving
  • Occasionally support Engineering Design team with prototype builds, testing, and feedback

 

Skills you will bring to the table:

  • Proficiency in hand soldering, crimping and connector assembly, wire harnessing and organization
  • Experience with advance mechanical integration and intermediate fabrication techniques
  • Proficiency with electronic measurement tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.) for troubleshooting.
  • Familiar with Quality Control/Quality Assurance ideals
  • Proficiency with various measurement tools (Vernier calipers, bore gauges, etc.)
  • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule
  • Driver's license
  • Proven ability to inspire, encourage, and collaborate with your team
  • A positive attitude where you continuously strive for improvement and can succeed without all the answers

 

Bonus Points for:

  • Technical Degree/Diploma in electrical systems, electronics, robotics, control systems, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with PCBAs, handling ESD-sensitive materials, knowledge of IPC-620/610
  • Experience handling, assembling, testing optical components
  • Experience working with point clouds and 3D computer visualization
  • Six sigma belt designation
  • Experience in or a passion for the underwater world or robotics
